Leaf season ends, and Asheville exhales.

The first two weeks of November are the best-kept secret in this city. The Parkway crowds are gone; you can walk into restaurants that wanted a reservation three weeks ago, and the weather still holds in the fifties most afternoons.

Same 500 square feet, same king bed, same full kitchen, same free parking. Fewer people between you and all of it.

A new whitewater wave is opening on the French Broad. Taylor’s Wave, built in honor of Taylor Hunt, has its official grand opening tonight, Friday, October 23, at Riverside Park in Woodfin, a short drive downriver from the River Arts District.

4:30 PM: Whitewater demonstration
5:00 PM: Official dedication
5:30 PM: Reception to follow

The wave is part of Woodfin’s Greenway + Blueway project, and the opening is a chance to celebrate with the boating community and everyone who helped build it. Parking is limited, so carpool if you can.

Fall is the easiest season in Asheville to travel with a dog. Bent Creek, Beaver Lake, the Parkway overlooks, and most brewery patios are all leash-friendly, and nobody here blinks when a dog walks into a taproom.

Our select first-floor suites are pet-friendly, and they're limited.

The River Arts District Fall Studio Stroll lands November 14–15, and 240-plus artists open their studios across the neighborhood. It's the biggest weekend the RAD does all year, and it happens directly outside our door.

It's also the weekend the neighborhood books out, so snag your suite early!

Summit Coffee reopened in Wedge Studios this past April, and it's quietly become the best first stop of a RAD morning. Order at the counter, take it outside, and you're a two-minute walk from the greenway. 🚶🏻‍♀️

Get in your steps and your caffeine before the shops and studios even open.

Three days is the right amount of time for a first trip here.

One for the RAD and downtown.
One for Biltmore — it takes the whole day; don't fight it.
And one for the mountains.

You'll get a taste of everything... Just enough to leave you longing for more. 😉

October is a good month to work from somewhere else.

High-speed WiFi, a full kitchen, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a desk that isn't the same kitchen table you've been staring at since March. Free parking, so the car sits until you want the Parkway on a Friday afternoon. New Belgium is 0.1 miles away for when the day's over.

We take longer stays — DM us about monthly rates.

There's a furnace running 0.1 miles from your bed.

Small Batch Glass Company is a working studio, not a demonstration. Walk in on the right afternoon, and you'll catch Asher Holman pulling molten glass out of it, which is a better use of twenty minutes than most things you had planned.

It's a considerably more appealing stop in October than in July, for obvious reasons.
