On Oct 28th, 1946, AW Schroeder, WH Olsen, Rev. Edwin Johnson, Rev Thos Allport, and TB Asmundson signed their names and founded Lutheran Camp Associates. At that point, they had no land and no buildings; just a vision of outdoor ministry for building faith in young people. What were they thinking? What fears, hopes, dreams did they carry that day? Do you think they could even imagine what was to come?
80 years later, Lutherwood (what LCA would later officially adopt as its name) is still exploring Grace in creation and changing lives on Lake Samish. Today we celebrate 8 decades of ministry done here on Lake Samish. There have been many highs and lows, and the Spirit is still stirring faith here at camp.
With the 80th summer ahead, we invite you to join us as we "Imagine More." Throughout the next year we are going to celebrate and give thanks for the ministry God has already done here at Lutherwood and start to imagine... what is God calling for next?
What is a memory you have from the last 80 years you want to share? Throw it in the comments!
And don't forget to wish Lutherwood a happy birthday!
