One of the incredible things about visiting Estes Park is getting to experience Colorado wildlife right here in town. This mama and her little one made an appearance near Appenzell — definitely a special sight! 🐻❤️

As exciting as it is to see bears, please always admire them from a safe distance. Never approach, follow, or feed a bear, and give mamas with cubs plenty of extra space. If you're viewing from your vehicle or another secure location, stay there and let the bears move along on their own.

We love sharing Estes Park with our wild neighbors and want to make sure both our guests and the bears stay safe. 🏔️🐻

One of the things we love about our location? Appenzell Inn is less than a mile from downtown Estes Park, making it easy to leave the car behind and enjoy a beautiful walk into town. 🚶‍♀️🌲

Follow the path along the water, cross the bridges, take in the mountain scenery, and before you know it, you'll be downtown exploring Estes Park's shops, restaurants, galleries and Riverwalk.

Spend the day in Rocky Mountain National Park, come back and relax at the Inn, then stroll into town for dinner or an evening of shopping. It's one of our favorite ways to enjoy Estes Park. ❤️

☀️ Here's a local tip: Weekdays in Estes Park are much quieter right now as many families head home and kids return to school. If you're planning a weekday visit, you often have a chance to grab one of the last-minute Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road reservations, which are released on Recreation.gov at 7:00 p.m. (Mountain Time) the evening before your visit. They go quickly, so be ready right at 7 p.m.!

🍂 Timed entry for the Bear Lake Road Corridor is only required through mid-October, after which you can enjoy this incredible area without a timed-entry reservation (weather permitting). And remember, Rocky Mountain National Park is open year-round, with every season offering its own unique beauty.

These views are from Highway 34 through the Big Thompson Canyon, heading up to Estes Park from Loveland—and it’s hard to beat the combination of towering canyon walls, the rushing Big Thompson River, and those mountain views as you get closer to town. 🌲

Of course, Highway 36 into Estes Park is beautiful too, and we know everyone has their favorite route.
