Today, June 6, is the first license-free fishing day of the year!

During the first two Saturdays in June and July 4, Maryland fishing licenses are not required to recreationally catch and possess finfish in tidal and non-tidal waters throughout the state.

Though a license is not needed, all anglers must follow current regulations, including size and catch limits found here: mddnr.info/4bG0DaG

Striped Bass Season Reminder: All areas of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries are open June 1 to recreational striped bass fishing. Anglers may keep 1 fish per person, per day, with a minimum length of 19 inches and a maximum length of 24 inches until July 31. Maryland's bay-wide summer closure begins on August 1 under the new shifted season for 2026.
