A private entrance to the Little Eazy makes you feel like you're in your very own home. We provide the perfect casual cottage that has two separate sleeping areas and a private bath. The air-conditioned cottage offers cable TV, radio, wifi, and a private phone. The kitchen is equipped with pots and pans, a full-size refrigerator, a microwave, hot plate, hot skillet, toaster and coffee maker. We provide coffee and tea for your stay.

There's a particular alley in Bywater where the walls seem to change every few months, and if you time it right you'll catch the artist responsible mid-brushstroke, balanced on a wobbly ladder with a coffee going cold on the ground below.

She's part of a loose network of local muralists who've quietly repainted entire blocks of this neighborhood over the last decade, working mostly on commission from homeowners and corner stores who want something more alive than a blank fence. Her signature is magnolia blossoms tangled with second line umbrellas, a nod to the fact that this city's beauty and its noise have never really been separate things. She works fast, mostly self-taught, and treats every fence and sh***un house side wall like it's begging to be finished before the next rainstorm rolls through.

Public art like this rarely gets a gallery opening, it just becomes part of the walk to the corner store until everyone in the neighborhood knows exactly which wall it is. What's a piece of local art you've watched go up right in your own neighborhood?

As you know this past weekend was Southern Decadence. We call it the "gay" Mardi Gras. BUT it is so much fun and everyone is happy and has a smile on their face. It was the first time here for my guests and they are from Oklahoma. You all know we dress up here all the time. I was thinking they would not be ready, BUT on parade day, here is how one came out of the cottage...SO I think they get it! AND he made it...
