Looking for a beautiful forest hike on Mount Lemmon, Arizona? Here are a few facts about Marshall Gulch Trail #3:
🥾 Distance: 1.3 miles one way
⛰️ Elevation: Approximately 7,400–7,900 feet
📈 Elevation gain: About 500 feet
🌲 Difficulty: Rated easy by the U.S. Forest Service
💧 Trail feature: Follows Marshall Gulch Creek through a shaded forest
🔄 Loop option: Connect with the Aspen Trail for roughly a 4-mile loop
🌳 Scenery: Pine, fir, oak, aspen and other high-elevation vegetation
🐦 Wildlife: The forest provides habitat for numerous birds and mountain wildlife

Please note that access to trailheads from the Marshall Gulch picnic area is only available on Fri. Sat & Sun. due to construction. You must walk in - there is no car access.

September 2026 on Mt Lemmon, Arizona. Thus far we’ve received anywhere from 15-20 inches of rain this monsoon season. Even though the Mt Lemmon General Store and Mt Lemmon Hotel are about 500 feet apart, the Hotel has received 15.5 inches and the General Store 17 inches. The Arizona Monsoon is wild!

If you’re looking for something to do on Mount Lemmon this Labor Day weekend, head up the mountain for a pancake breakfast fundraiser benefiting our local fire department! 🚒🥞
Come hungry. Support our firefighters. Enjoy the cooler mountain air. And, most importantly, prove that pancakes absolutely count as a legitimate weekend activity.

But the $140 was really just the bonus. The real lessons were about teamwork, holding the ladder for each other, learning how to count money, talking to customers, figuring out how to sell and splitting the money between pals.
Those are lessons that will stick with them a lot longer than the cash in their pockets. ❤️🏔️

Over the last 30 days, much of Mt. Lemmon has received 3–6 inches of rain between Summerhaven and Ski Valley—and you can see the difference everywhere! 🌧️🌲
The mountains are turning brilliantly green, fruit trees are loaded with produce, and rainbows seem to be making regular appearances over our little mountain village overlooking Tucson, Arizona.
