On the drive up to Mt. Lemmon you will pass Windy Point Vista. This is one of the most iconic stops on the Catalina Highway (Sky Island Scenic Byway), perched high in the Santa Catalina Mountains above Tucson. The overlook is famous for its panoramic views of Tucson, dramatic granite spires, and unforgettable sunsets. Located around mile marker 14 on the drive to Mt. Lemmon, it has become one of Southern Arizona's favorite spots for photography, stargazing, and watching meteor showers. The overlook sits along the historic Catalina Highway, which began construction in the 1930s and transformed access to the mountain community above Tucson. Anything is possible when you snap a picture here.

Marshall Gulch Trail is near Summerhaven on the top of Mount Lemmon. A little over an hour from downtown Tucson, it is known for its cool alpine climate hiking, perennial creek, and beautiful canopy of pine and aspen trees. There is still a little bit of water as of 5/17/26.

As all the weather folks are talking about a Super El Niño and lots of rain/snow for Arizona later this year - this has to be one of our favorite Mt Lemmon pictures of one of the snowiest winters in the last 10 years. Chip Beiner (he is 6’5”) ran out of places to shovel snow and could walk onto the roof of his cabin by the end of the winter.
