From festive afternoon teas to delightful markets, we’ve gathered a handful of local moments to get you in the festive spirit.

Festive Afternoon Tea at The Wingrove
Enjoy seasonal sandwiches, freshly baked scones and festive cakes in the cosy surroundings of Wingrove House. Available Monday–Saturday, 12–3pm; advance booking is recommended.

Alfriston Christmas Market
25 November, 3–9pm, and 26 November, 9am–3pm. Browse festive stalls, artisan gifts and seasonal treats, with the Christmas lights switched on at 7pm on Wednesday. Free entry; no booking needed.

Christmas Carols at Clergy House
28 November, 2–3pm. Enjoy traditional Christmas carols led by St Andrew’s Choir in the historic hall. Free event with no booking needed; normal admission applies before 1:30pm.

Wreath Making at Clergy House
5 December, 10:30am–1pm. Create your own festive wreath at this seasonal workshop in the historic Clergy House. Booking required; see the National Trust website.

Sussex Christmas Market at Rathfinny
5–6 December, 11am–3pm. Browse gifts from Sussex artisans and enjoy a complimentary glass of Sussex sparkling w**e while exploring the festive market. Check the Rathfinny website for visitor and booking details.

Winter Walks on the Sussex Downs
Wrap up warm and explore the rolling hills and scenic countryside of the South Downs, perfect for a crisp winter stroll. Enjoy the self-guided trails at your own pace, with no booking needed.

Our final table for Christmas Day Lunch 🎄

Christmas Day at Wingrove House is all about good food, good company and letting someone else take care of the details.

Gather around the table and begin with a glass of Rathfinny Classic Cuvée, before settling in for a traditional five-course Christmas feast, prepared with the finest seasonal ingredients.

Expect roast turkey with all the trimmings or a rich beef Wellington, followed by Christmas pudding and indulgent homemade chocolate truffles all served in our beautifully decorated restaurant, with crackling log fires adding to the festive atmosphere.
