St Oswald's Farm A beautiful award winning holiday cottage in the heart of Northumberland, offering luxury 5* accommodation for two. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Situated on Hadrian's Wall and near to Hexham, the National Park and perfectly located for enjoying all Northumberland has to offer. Heavenfield Cottage is a beautifully renovated farm building conversion on our family farm in the heart of Hadrian’s Wall Country. The cottage sits very uniquely on top of Hadrian's Wall itself and offers luxury 5 star and award winning self catering accommodation for two. This working farm stocks over 1100 sheep and a herd of 120 cattle and has been in our family for over 50 years. We love where we live and what we do and in 2017 we diversified to something new, to something that would enable us to welcome guests to our beautiful location. The old farm building was converted to a stunning self catering cottage and we are now delighted to be able to offer guests the opportunity to enjoy all that makes St Oswald's Farm special. There is history all around us, not only are we located on the Hadrian's Wall National Trail, we are adjacent to our very lovely 'Heavenfield' the old cattle site of the Battle of Heavenfield which took place in 633 and in which stands St Oswald's Church. Heavenfield is also a preserved hay meadow and the end point of the long distance walking route, St Oswald's Way. Not only are we immersed in history here, we have the most fantastic views and our central location means we are ideally positioned to enjoy day trips to the whole of Northumberland from Hadrian's Wall, to the Northumberland National Park, the Dark Skies and the fantastic Northumberland coast, the magnificent castles, charming gardens and the many amazing visitor attractions. We are happy for guests to explore our farm and will happily recommend walks and even provide a map of the farm showing the best vantage points. We will gladly answer any questions you might have about our farm, our animals and recommend day trips and places of interest if you're struggling to choose from the huge choice. Within the cottage itself many of the original features remain, with beams, exposed stonework, cobbles outside and with stones from Hadrian's Wall itself within the construction, Heavenfield Cottage is immersed in history and you can even boast that you've slept on top of Hadrian's Wall. A modern and well equipped kitchen ensures self-catering is a pleasure and we know you'll feel at home in this luxurious yet comfortable and cosy cottage. Underfloor heating and a log burner means you'll be toasty and warm and a drying cupboard ensures you can dry out those muddy boots from a day's walking. The cottage has been equipped to a high standard with lots of home comforts to ensure your stay is as comfortable and luxurious as possible. We look forward to welcoming you here to St Oswald's Farm, where you will receive a friendly and personal welcome.

Some holidays need military-style planning. 🗓️ Timetables, tickets, restaurant bookings and a spreadsheet of things you must see.

Or you could come to Northumberland.

Go for a walk because the weather looks promising. Stop for lunch somewhere that catches your eye. Visit a historic site, browse a few independent shops or simply take the scenic route home.

There's plenty to do around St Oswald's Farm, so you can do as much or as little as you wish,

Sometimes it's just rather nice to decide what the day holds over a leisurely breakfast.

If you fancy slowing right down Northumberland style then you'll find lots of info on our website - link in comments

Another year of achieving VisitEngland 5-Star Gold for Heavenfield Cottage!

We’re always tweaking things here and there, making little improvements and trying to make sure everything is just right for our guests. It’s so lovely to see those certificates come through the door again.

One morning, there might be cows and calves in the sheds. Another day, sheep grazing nearby. At certain times of year, you'll see the fields being worked as the next season gets underway.

Life on a farm changes with the seasons, and staying here gives you a little glimpse of it.

It's not a farm attraction with a timetable or a show. It's simply the countryside doing what it does, right outside.

And that's part of what makes a stay here different.

Fancy a change of scenery next week? 🍂

We have a last-minute gap in Heavenfield Cottage from Friday 30th October - just in time for crisp walks, cosy evenings and a bit of exploring before winter really sets in.

Think Hadrian’s Wall on your doorstep, autumn colours across the countryside, a log burner waiting for you at the end of the day, and absolutely no need to get up early unless you want to!

Sometimes the best breaks are the ones you hadn't planned. 😉

We know you like to know

“How far is it to.…?”

And the answer to quite a lot of these questions is about 5-10 minutes.

Hexham? - 10 minutes.
Corbridge? - 10 minutes.
A good place to eat? - 5 minutes
A Roman site - 5 minutes
A pint - 5 minutes

Yet when you're back at the farm, it feels wonderfully removed from everything.

🍁🍂Pumpkin season!🍁🍂

Misty mornings, hazy sunshine, gorgeous autumn colours, crunchy leaves and it's definitely the season to get cosy. Anyone else looking forward to wooly jumpers, hot chocolate and candlelit evenings in the front of the fire?
