Here is a little snippet of the tracks our guests get to enjoy when they come and stay at Logie Newton Lodges.

We maintain over 10km of grass tracks through native woodland and around our fields.

The perfect tracks for walks and exercising your dogs and horses too.

Who would you take with you to stay with us and enjoy our track with?

Lawrence had a new, very enthusiastic boss today!

Michael thoroughly enjoyed his first afternoon shearing and was busy showing off his new sounds to both Lawrence and the sheep.

We have 14 amazing fleeces and what a weight to some of them! Safe to say the sheep are all feeling better for it tonight.

The biggest shock to me is how big all the wethers have got since their last shear in February! Magic Mike is definitely no longer the little one and has filled out nicely.

Now to try and work out who is who again. 🀣

A selection of before, during and after photos for you to enjoy.

Thank you Lawrence for your ever enthusiastic attitude...I am sure one day you will love the Valais. 🀣🀣

We are excited to share our latest collaboration, with Sarah Leask Studio.

Sarah has created a stunning design and yesterday we picked up the first of our items - greeting cards and magnets.

These will be available for purchase from our onsite shop by lodge and sauna experience guests.

We cannot wait to share the rest of the collection when they arrive later this month.

It has been awhile so I thought it was time to reintroduce the face and story behind Logie Newton Lodges and Events.

I am Louise, your host and 6th generation of the Cruickshank Family. I was brought up on our farm and didn't truly appreciate how special it was, until I moved my horse down to Edinburgh. It turns out not everyone has access to miles of off road hacking with pretty special views!

When I returned to the farm in 2014, I knew I wanted to share the magic of the farm and on a visit to the Highland Show, I started to look into glamping. What struck me was how easy it appeared to be to set it up, and I remember saying to Dad if we do this, we need something that makes us unique. 2 years on and it felt like everyone, except us, was offering glamping!

Over the years I looked into so many different options, including a triathlon training and competition centre! But none of them were quite right. There were always parts that we were compromising on.

On 29 June 2022 (amazing the dates that stick in our mind!), we welcomed home 32,000 hens for free range egg laying. A bit different to a glamping diversification. Following an early September morning stint in the hen shed, the idea of holiday with your horse crossed my mind. Of course I told Dad and we both said "that would have worked, but we have invested in a hen shed!".

29 October 2022 (another date stuck in my head) we had the dreaded confirmation. Our hens had bird flu. All those who hadn't passed in the previous 2 days had to be culled. We were devastated. I have never experienced such a tough period in farming as I did from 27 October until 23 December (the next date to stick in my head).

The 23 December was the day we decided our journey in egg laying was to come to an end. We would sell the shed and I would progress my glamping plan. Before anyone could change their mind, I was on the phone to the architect.

During the design process we moved away from glamping to create luxury lodges and we welcomed our first guests in November 2024, 10 years after we first had the idea. 😊

One week to go!

Our Harvest Farm Ride is next Sunday (13 September) and we cannot wait to welcome you.

On the day, you can choose between two ride routes:
🐴 Logie Newton Tracks Ride:
This is a relaxed route that can be as short or as long as you like. You’ll love this option if you wish to avoid the steep hills in the woodland area.
🐴 Logie Newton Tracks and Woodland Ride:
This longer 6.5km route takes you through forestry and into fields with various steep hills, which is perfect for testing stamina. Your horse (and you) will love the workout, and the contrast between the woodland shade and open-field tracks is a real highlight. You can add extra loops of the fields to extend this ride if you wish.

The morning sessions are filling up but we do have space in the afternoons. Pop over to our website to find out more and book your space (πŸ”— in the comments).
