💔 PLEASE HELP US SAVE OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE LAKE DISTRICT 💚
We really don’t know where to start with this, but something is happening that could change the future of our campsite, and so many other small, family-run campsites across the Lake District, forever.
The Lake District National Park is now considering changes that could remove or restrict our Permitted Development Rights — the very rights that allow small, temporary pop-up campsites like ours to operate.
And honestly? We are worried. Really worried. 😔
If these rights are taken away, it could mean the end of pop-up campsites as we know them. It could also mean that the beautiful fields and areas that farmers open up to visitors during the summer months will no longer be able to welcome campers.
These are places that offer something a little different. A chance to escape the hustle and bustle, enjoy the countryside, wake up to incredible views, make memories with family and friends, and experience the Lake District in a simple, affordable and special way.
If these opportunities disappear, where will everyone go?
The reality is that more people could be forced into larger, more commercial campsites, with fewer opportunities to enjoy the countryside in the way so many of us love. There should be no reason why people cant have the choice between commercial campsites and pop up campsites! But that choice will be removed. The demand for commercial campsites will go up and the price will rise.
And for us, this is about so much more than just running a campsite. 💚
Our campsite is part of our farm diversification. It helps us make our farm work, whilst allowing us to share this beautiful place with the people who appreciate it just as much as we do.
For the last 6 YEARS, we have worked incredibly hard to create somewhere people want to return to. We have put our hearts into making it enjoyable for everyone, creating memories, welcoming new faces and, most importantly, seeing familiar faces come back year after year.
Our regular campers aren't just bookings in a diary. You become part of our story. We look forward to welcoming you back, hearing about your adventures, seeing your families grow and knowing that this little place means something to you, too. 🥹❤️
The thought that all of this could be taken away is heartbreaking.
We have invested so much time, energy and love into making our campsite what it is today. We are proud of what we have built, and we want nothing more than to keep opening our gates and welcoming you all back for many summers to come.
We are doing everything within our power to fight this. But the truth is, our little voice on its own just isn't loud enough.
We need YOUR help. 🙏
I am already in contact with our local MP, and I will be contacting anyone else who might listen, anyone who can help us make our voices heard and anyone who has the power to understand what this could mean for small farms, rural businesses, local communities and visitors to the Lake District.
The latest notice I found says the Lake District National Park Authority made an Article 4 Direction on 1 October 2026, covering the Class BC permitted development right for recreational campsites across the National Park. It is scheduled to come into force on 1 March 2028. The notice also gives 16 November 2026 as the deadline for representations.
That means this is no longer simply a proposal being discussed.

We want to keep welcoming you back. We want to keep sharing our little corner of the Lakes. And we want to keep doing what we love. 💚
