🔷️THURSDAY 29TH OCTOBER 2026🔷️

Achieving a 90% clearance rate at this year’s sale held at Lanark, 52 Blackface Shearling Rams and Ram Lambs were catalogued with 48 heads forward from 15 different flocks. 42 Shearling Rams averaged £460.71 out the 48 forward, whilst 2 Ram Lambs out the three forward averaged £800.00.

Topping the sale at £2000 was the Shearling Ram consigned by the brother duo, Wilson and Jim Ramsay, Milnmark Farm, Dalry with their son of the £18,000 Milnmark. This shearling, being picked to lead their pen, has previously been used last season and now joins John Carruthers for his Silloans flock based in Rochester.

Wilson and Jim also took the next leading price at £1,500 for their Milnmark third entry. A son of the £60,000 Merkins and used as a lamb, now heads to Cumnock with Miss Helen M Fleming, Cronberry Farm.

Topping the Ram Lamb trade twice at £800, was the Sole Ram Lamb Consignment from Richard Carruthers of Messrs Carruthers Farming, Merkland, Penpont. His first to reach £800 is a son of the £11,000 Merkland and heads over to the Scottish Borders with Mr R Simpson, Kirkhouse, Peebles. Richard also received a further £800 for a son of the £14,000 Elmscleugh. He now heads to Clachaig Farm with Pete & Nicky Brown in Isle of Arran.
