We are a family owned and operated luxurious boutique lodge in the heart of the Manawatu. Disconnect and reconnect in a tranquil and idyllic setting.

Our perfectly-appointed lodge is an excellent getaway for downtime and relaxation, or to get together to celebrate your wedding, events or other special moments. Luxury accommodation on our family farm which has been owned and operated for six generations by the Stewart family. Centrally located for easy access to the lower North Island and close proximity to Palmerston North City. A place to unwind and relax with warm and friendly hospitality.

Julia is incredibly grateful for the roots they planted and the love they poured in. The greatest gift is getting to work alongside Jan and learning from her along the way.

Introducing Suzette 👋

Suzette has been part of the Hiwinui Country Estate Family since January 2026.

With a background in hospitality and home styling she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, providing an unforgettable experience for our guests.

A mother of 3, and Nonna to 5 almost 6 grandchildren, she loves hosting and entertaining family and friends.

Suzette has an eye for decor and interior. Over time she will be adding her touch to the Lodge, while still keeping the original character and ambience of the building and surrounding landscape, that makes Hiwinui a truly special experience.

“Every day I come out to the Lodge I love what I do. From greeting guests, preparing breakfasts, picking and arranging flowers, changing out rooms, attending to the Lakehouse Retreat, feeding chickens and everything in between…I feel very fortunate to be a part of such unique and beautiful environment”
