It’s been a week full of lion sightings to cap off August, and long may it continue into spring!

September sits firmly within the dry season in the Timbavati, bringing some of the best game viewing conditions of the year. The bite of winter has eased, days are warm and sunny, and with little rain around, it’s the perfect time to spend an afternoon beside the pool after a morning on safari.

All smiles on board the sunset safari this afternoon.

Included in your stay are twice daily game drives led by expert Naturalist Guides and Wildlife Tracker teams traversing the Timbavati. They depart before sunrise and again around 3:30pm every day. A quintessential safari tradition on an afternoon drive is finding a scenic spot to stop and stretch your legs around sunset, sip on your favourite cool drink and soak it all in.

In order to drink, a giraffe must spread its front legs and lower its long neck - one of the more exposed positions in the bush when it comes to being vulnerable to predators.

This bull took his chance at the lodge hide, then snapped back upright in one motion, alert and at full height, as if called to attention! 🫡
