Let's be honest, for most of us the summer holidays can feel quite fraught at times. Amidst the glorious joy of hearing little ones laugh and having escaped somewhere, there is a wild juggle taking place.

Day trips, problem-solving, conflict resolution and for many, squeezing in a full day's work on top of that all. Add to that the fact that many of us now parent in isolation, far from helping hands and a tight community; it can leave you feeling fairly strung out by the end and rather gasping for a few less busy moments to yourself.

Maybe you feel the same?

Because we know the realities of being a mum or dad, we created Kaya to give other parents (and grandparents) a safe escape when they’re feeling overwhelmed.

After all, it can be easy to forget your own needs as you put the children first - so it’s ok to say, “I need this,” and allow yourself to have it.

Whether that’s a night or two away or simply a day where you bin the to-do list and watch a movie instead. Whatever you need, you probably deserve tenfold!

We don’t mean to shout about it, but look at the views here at Kaya. Uninterrupted. Wall-to-Wall. 360 degrees. Vistas that roll on and on and on...

Best of all, even if the weather is challenging, you still get the views: both our yurt-cabins are glass-fronted, so you don’t even have to get out of bed to see them.

We’re pretty sure a good view has healing powers. It worked for us and is the reason we settled here.

Autumn at Kaya is something to look forward to.

Fires lit as the evening draws in. Hot tea after a long walk. Golden sunrises slipping over the Black Mountains, and deep outdoor baths when the air has just enough bite to make them feel even better.

It’s a beautiful time to explore, too. Walk straight from Kaya’s door onto the Cat’s Back, Black Hill or the Dragon’s Back, or head further into Herefordshire for a little leaf-peeping as the woods and hedgerows turn copper, russet and gold.

Then come back, put the kettle on and settle in beside the fire. Autumn looks rather good from here.

If you’re a hiker, you might want to know about our little bit of Herefordshire.

From Kaya’s door, you can lace up your boots and head straight out towards some of our favourite hikes on The Black Mountains and in Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons): The Cat’s Back, Lord Hereford’s K**b, Dragon’s Back and Black Hill.

Big ridgelines, awe-inspiring views and miles of walking surrounded by the majesty of nature.

We were delighted to welcome Tom from to Kaya, who did exactly that. He set out to explore the hills on foot, then headed back afterwards for a hot shower and something cold to drink.

Do you have something special to celebrate this year or next?

We’ve been busy creating a way for you to meaningfully mark the occasion, with ease and effortlessness - because sometimes it can be a headache trying to think of new ideas... and stressful trying to pull many things together for one day, in secret.

So, we’ve come up with a brand new package that does it all for you: and we’ve called it Bubbles & Bed. It’s now live on our website, via the link in the bio.

Without giving too much away, it includes a stay somewhere beautiful. A bottle of very special bubbles, plus many more treats to properly celebrate the event or the person you’re coming with.

We spend most of our lives believing we’re separate from nature. That it’s found in a place we visit or experience, rather than something we’re part of.

But the same air moves through our lungs and the trees. The same water finds its way into rivers and into us. We feel the effects of light, season and weather.

As Charlie from Charlie & Willow | Community moth project believes: “A moth resting on your fingertip is a perfect, small reminder of our connection to nature. So is a hedgerow heavy with blackberries, or a field turning gold in the evening light.”

We do all that we can here at Kaya to protect the nature around us so that it’s easier for you to stay and feel meaningfully connected to it. Because the truth is, we were never really separate from nature at all.
