Its name is Losehill House, the finest 4 star hotel located within the Peak District National Park. The hotel & spa occupies a secluded spot on the side of Lose Hill with stunning views overlooking Win Hill. Low sun across Win Hill, the trees turning gold and copper below, and leaves scattered across the lawn. Enjoy it from the garden, then head inside as the lamps come on 🍂

Happy Halloween from the Hope Valley 🎃

High on the hill above Castleton, the ruins of Peveril Castle rise out of the mist. Its keep was built in 1176, and it’s said not all of its residents have left…

A White Knight is reported to stand guard by the rampart. Others have glimpsed a phantom horse and hound near the keep. And on still nights, some claim to hear a woman’s ghostly singing drifting over the ruins.

If they’re ever going to make an appearance, tonight could be the night.

Listen closely on a misty night in Winnats Pass, and you might hear more than the wind.

It’s said the ghosts of Alan and Clara, two lovers murdered here in 1758 on their way to be married, still roam the pass. The miners who killed them met unhappy ends, and the last confessed on his deathbed twenty years later. Some say the couple’s screams still echo between the limestone walls...

Local folklore says Lose Hill and Win Hill took their names from an ancient battle, with the victors camped on one and the defeated on the other.

But every so often, as the sun sinks behind us, Lose Hill gets its own back and casts its shadow right across Win Hill 🌄

Losehill sits in the Dark Peak, all gritstone, heather and moorland. But head a few minutes down the road to Castleton, and Cave Dale takes you somewhere quite different.

This narrow limestone valley winds up from the village, with Peveril Castle watching from above, before opening out onto the pale, drystone-walled fields of the White Peak.
